2. Conference statement

  • Conference theme: “Nordic Models for Open Science Collaboration”

Draft of the statement

  • Link was provided for the committee members during the meeting
    • Aligning the overall statement and conference theme to ongoing initiatives in the Nordics (Digitalisation, Vision 2030, etc)
    • Declaration could be made by the Research & education ministers in Nordic Countries
      • Nordic agreement amongst Nordic RE ministries to enhance the Nordic Open Science and the cross-border collaborations
    • Structured long-term collaboration between the key national actors emphasized
    • Four suggestions for priorities to harvers Nordic Added Value (NAV)
      • Common Incentives for Open Science Practices
      • Nordic Open Science Data Spaces
      • Nordic Workforce of Data Stewards
      • World-Class Supercomputing Infrastructure

Discussion

  • Open Science on the European level should be addressed as part of the programme
  • Mention of quantum computing included in the last priority?
    • There will also be a workshop on quantum computing during the conference on Wednesday
  • Addressing green efforts and other world-wide challenges (climate change, health data security) in the four priorities?
    • The statement text and the priorities could be focused / phrased more inclusively
  • Next steps: anchoring with appropriate bodies, e.g., Ministries, National Providers
    • How to get the statement signed by Nordic Ministries of R&E?
      • Procedures might insist that the statement is discussed first at the director-level
      • We need to prepared for possible changes suggested by all six ministries
