Glenna WP3 weekly videomeet 20.02.2015 at 13-14:20 CET

Present: Daniel Huluka, Dan Still(chair), Uwe Grawert, Risto Laurikainen

1. Introduction

  Slak account cretaed
  mailing list created

2. Image banks, configuration mgmt, automated building - status in Finland, Norway, Sweden

   - what is important?
   - where do we start?
     KVM, Puppet
Daniel: Norwegian puppet repos in Github called: "himlar" and "winch"
AP CSC will take a look at the Norwegian code
AP CSC will move own internal configuration repos to Github
Risto suggests looking at r10k also roles and profiles (design pattern for puppet architecture) have been useful for CSC
Sharing architectures, put code&documentation in Github everything README fiels etc. would be good
AP on Dan information page where there would be links to all the different source code people have for puppet
Risto: need to plan for moving material into Github can be included in next CSC sprint, need to improve on the documentation
Risto: essentially it would be very useful to look at each others code and learn from that

Uwe: for Pouta public cloud images are built automatically, that's something that we could also share. It just needs documentation
them the code is in github but not the descriptions. The images are built automatically and the system is in production

3. Should "security" be a separate work package?

Risto: security was only in WP3 and not in any other WP:s
Risto: these task do not fit into a individual WP they are not WP items.
concrete tasks that could be there are how to do security audits
Daniel: in every WP there a are security tasks to be done. Eg federation authentication access control issues which is a security related task.
Risto: it maybe sends the wrong message that only the security WP does the security related issues maybe an option is to
add security related tasks to the WP:s as they are needed.

Decision: forget the individual security WP and look at the individual task and see how they could be integrated to the WP:s

AP: Daniel knows some people, he can talk to security experts in Norway (outside Academia)

4. Should we include cloud storage as a topic in Glenna?

  - where would the focus lie i.e. what would we include?
Are we talking S3 or dropbox style. Are we talking a joint storage cloud in the Nordics
Plans for object storage in Finland
Daniel: do we have some use cases?
The projects opinion so far is: every organization implements their own and that storage is available through the cloud federation. No shared solution for the Nordics.
Risto is there a specific need (for some user group i.e. real customer requirements)

5. Accounts to Pouta for the Glenna team

AP Dan: investigate send out forms to be signed

6. Set up a meeting for representatives of UH-Sky, SNIC Cloud and Pouta

  project managers attend, Location: CSC?
AP Dan: talk to Jan Ivar, start planning dates for UH-Sky SNICcloud and Pouta meet at CSC.

7. Start working on federated single sign-on (WP2)

CSC has started investigating potential solutions
UH Sky will be in production and available for testing during the spring. Not necessarily in general use before June.
