More news:
- Invited to teach in London and Heidelberg in 2020.
- Radovan got a travel grant to deliver a two-week course in Lille, France.
- We are relicensing lessons from CC-BY-SA to CC-BY since there is interest in reuse within Carpentries. Less restrictive, more liberal. Benefit is more exposure and more use, but Share-Alike requirement is removed.
- Carpentries membership: 14 persons have taken the instructor training in the past 12 months. Uptake of workshops slow (we need a coordinator, see point 2).
- Comment “A FAIRer future” in Nature Physics.
2. Co-funding a Carpentries Regional Coordinator position Nordics & Baltics (20 min, decision).
- Compared to our budget proposal in the project directive we have not used 12 person months (PM) because a) we could not fill the administrative support position and b) because DeIC and ETAIS staff costs will be lower than anticipated.
- Therefore we propose to reallocate 12 PMs to co-fund a position "Carpentries Regional Coordinator Nordics & Baltics" in partnership with the University of Oslo, in order to improve the coordination of Carpentries workshops and instructor training in the Nordics and strengthen the link between NeIC/CodeRefinery and The Carpentries.
Radovan has already interviewed the candidate. There would be on-boarding within the Carpentries but also given by the project manager.
Decision: The proposal is approved.
3. Approval of the project plan (15 min, decision).
- Draft document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FNJq56tydWWw5jO3HdH6xqXty6XKjqoN9FKfXhrJWLI/
- Sections 2.2 and 3.1 have been modified to accommodate for the reallocation of 12 PMs for a Carpentries Regional Coordinator position Nordics & Baltics (see above point 2).
Decision: The suggested changes to the project plan are approved. Project manager to assign a new version number and upload a pdf version for public access.

- Next in-person meeting: Friday, Feb 7 2020, Arlanda.
